On September 10, 2018, the 2018 China-U.S. Tourism Leadership Summit was held in Hangzhou, China. NTA President Pam Inman, CTP; NTA Board Chair Chris Babb, Vice Chair Paul Larsen and China Market Director Lin Wang joined more than 70 the United States delegates led by Brand USA President Chris Thompson. The newly formed Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China hosted the 12th annual event, and the Consul General of the United States in Shanghai Sean Stein attended the event.
More than 200 U.S. and Chinese summit participants, including top-level executives and officials from local governments, destination marketing organizations, association leaders, tour operators and online travel agents, attractions and transportation companies discussed best practices in marketing, travel and tourism trends, and current issues impacting the industry. Pam Inman joined the panel discussion on “the use of culture in tourism development”, in which she encouraged tour operators to develop more local culturally immersive tours.
The next U.S.-China Tourism Leadership Summit will be held in Seattle, USA.
