The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) recently released China Market Profile 2017. In this report, NTTO presents final numbers for China inbound tourism to the United States for 2017.
Highlights of the report:
- 3.17 million Chinese citizens visited the U.S. in 2017, 4% increase comparing to 2016.
- Chinese visitors spent $35,300 million for travel within the U.S., continues to be the No. 1 spender source market.
- 34.5% of the Chinese visitors visited Middle Atlantic region, more than 3% increase comparing to 2016. Pacific region including California and Washington scored 41.47%.
- 60% of the Chinese visitors came to the U.S for leisure purpose including vacation/holidays and visiting friends and families. 30% are for business and meeting purpose. 18.3% for education including study and teaching.
